Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the brain Novalis, Brainlab
12. November 2014 in Berlin
ab 17:45 bis 20:00 Uhr
Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the brain is a rare disease describing the entanglement of blood vessels connected by feeding arteries and draining vessels. Mismanagement of the disease can result in haemorrhage and ultimately lead to death, where amongst treatment options, radiotherapy is considered to be a safe and viable option. Though an invasive procedure, angiography remains the gold standard in the diagnosis and radiotherapy of AVMs. However in order to have a comprehensive overview of clinical progression, MR and/or CT data are often required to assist in the definition of a treatment volume. Therefore, making the best possible use of all information remains a significant challenge. This talk will address some of the most commonly encountered issues and describe a proposed solution.
