EUTEMPE-RX Module MPE02: Radiation biology for medical physicists in radiology
13.-18. April 2015 Pavia (Italien),
A practical challenge to be solved: how to optimize exposures using radiobiology as a guide?
Importance and impact of the training module: The MELODI and DOREMI networks have pointed out the need to study low dose exposures as well as high dose procedures in more detail, prepare suitable human cohorts for epidemiological investigation and use results from radiobiology in optimization studies. MELODI recognizes in the regard the importance of cohorts of irradiated persons due to medical exposures. The MPE is well placed to explore techniques for individualized dosimetry but has to learn more about the basics of the biological processes involved.
